A painting of a rare and endangered turtle, the giant loggerhead, which nests on the dunes of the beaches along the North Florida Panhandle. There are a lot of caring volunteers who work hard to ensure that the eggs have a chance to hatch and baby turtles make it to the ocean to begin their long journey. It takes 30 years for them to grow to adulthood and then return to the same beach where they hatched to lay their eggs. I named this turtle, Yertle, after a favorite book I used to read to my children when they were young. Yertle is 24" x 24" (SOLD!) on a recycled cabinet door. If you're interested in the original, a print, or a set of greeting cards, please contact me. As well, you can order a necklace of this painting, a 1.25" charm on a 24" beaded chain. If interested, just send me a note.
